Paul Durand is currently serving in his fourth year as Superintendent of Rockford Area Schools. Durand is originally from the Twin Cities area and has studied at the University of Wisconsin-Stout, Mankato State University and the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities where he received a master’s/specialist degree and has completed work for a doctorate of education. Durand began his teaching career in industrial education in 1979 as well as being a coach and advisor in football, wrestling, track, yearbook and VICA Club. Durand's career in administration started in 1985 as assistant principal at Jackson Middle School. He was an associate principal at Brooklyn Center High School for seven years, then moved on a principal’s position at South St. Paul High School for the next seven years. Durand held other upper administrative positions at Twin Cities area schools, before taking his first superintendent’s job in Winona in 2004, a position he held for six years before coming to Rockford.
